EDUCATIONAL SERVICE PROVISION AND INTERVENTIONS

Intervention providers should also focus service delivery on interventions that support language and communication development. Providing a young child with access to express wants and needs is a basic human right that can have tremendous impact on the child’s ability to connect with their environment. The documented delay in language and communication for children with ASD, a core characteristic, warrants systematic and consistent programming. Services for young children with ASD should include a comprehensive approach to language and communication across service providers and the home including from one-on-one speech language therapy to an imbedded approach of language instruction throughout academic instruction.
